Do I have another option?!

Chase and I were having a chat over dinner tonight. (Wyatt was at the church practicing for the Primary Program on Sunday.) I use the term dinner lightly, because let's face it..the kid was eating an orange and some mini cupcakes. Anyway.. Chase is a chatterbox. Loves to talk. So we were running through a typical Chase conversation. It went something like this:

Chase: You got a neck.
Me: Yes, I do have a neck!
Chase: I have a neck.
Me: Good job! You do have a neck!
Chase: Rusty has a neck. (our dog)
Me: He sure does.

Okay...so this went on for some time. The conversation ran quite the same as above, but instead of the word neck, insert: nose, hair, eye, chin, etc. (I believe you get the point.)

Well, we get to the part where Chase says, Puppy has a tail! I then asked him if HE had a tail too, and he got a HUGE GRIN on his face (I'm sure you are well aware of the joy little boys experience when they get to talk about bodily functions and less discussed body parts) and he said LOUDLY: I GOT A BOOOODDEEEE (booty)!!!

Yes, this is the word we use in our house.

For one, I LOATHE the word 'bum'. It's just not my thing, I think it sounds cheesy (no offense to those that do use it). It's just not for us! So, NATALIE - who I'm going to blame this one on - is the one that got me started with Booty I think. I'm pretty sure that is what she referred to her kids 'rear ends' as. At any rate... I don't want the kids using the word BUTT... I think it only leads to less endearing terms such as "butt head", etc. With boys, that is just the tip of the iceberg. I'm sure they can get VERY creative with the word butt (as they have with poop). So... Do I have another option? I mean, is booty that bad? I get a few looks when the kids say it...but I am curious as to what my other options might be. Please, enlighten me. Otherwise, we are living our lives referring to our 'bums' as BOOTIES! Thank you Aunt Natalie!

The Fat Man Better Come Through!

Wyatt has been DEAD SET on what he wants (no, EXPECTS) from Santa for Christmas. He remarked this morning… mom, I’m going to drive my car to work too. He references said ‘car’ daily, and at this point, I don’t think the kid can fathom what it would be like to wake up on Christmas morning and NOT see his shiny black Cadillac Escalade parked in front of our Christmas Tree.

So…. Like I said.. THE FAT MAN BETTER COME THROUGH!

My parents always did us right on Christmas morning. We KNEW Santa had to be real because there was just NO WAY my parents could afford the stuff we found under our tree! It was truly a joyous occasion for us! 6 kids, a teacher’s salary, home made clothes. The one thing we always had was Christmas morning and our present from Santa! So… in the spirit of that tradition and those fond memories I have from my childhood… I sure hope Santa finds it in his heart (and pocketbook) to spring for an Escalade for my little dude. (Although, research shows that a Hummer might actually be about 75 bucks cheaper and I’m sure he’d be none the wiser!)

A little birdie told me Santa was bringing Chase a “Flintstone Version” of Wyatt’s Ideal Gift. Apparently he picked it up on a Clearance at WalMart because the box was damaged! LOL

We have a record foks!

We officially lasted 32 minutes at church yesterday. My kids were sooooooooo naughty, I wanted to cry. To give you a small taste of what I was dealing with…here’s a short list of what I recall from the meeting. This doesn’t come close to encompassing every issue we faced in that short 32 minutes that felt like 332 minutes though….

1. Wyatt was crying as we walked in the door because he could NOT have a sucker.
B. He then fought with Chase over who got to sit on my lap. (I will say that typically Chase wins because he cries the loudest and longest when mommy shares her lap with anyone but him. Wyatt knows this, but just tries to antagonize Chase. This Sunday, it worked in a major way.)
IV. They fought over who got the bag of pretzels. (My mistake was I only had one bag…should have just left it at home.) Wyatt’s FIRST complaint was that he wanted the FAT pretzels…but apparently as soon as Chase was eyeing them, he decided he’d take what he could get. He would not share without screaming at me, and Chase in turn started with the screams.

Now mind you, the entire time..Wyatt is NOT speaking in his "reverant church voice". Not even close.

Wyatt then decided he would be ‘funny’ and run around the aisle. Chase tried to follow suit, until I shut them both down…but of course, the screams got loud at that point as I wrestled them into seats again.

We then proceeded to make a rain shower of flash cards because it’s much funner to throw them, then to actually look at them.

I know at one point, I got hit. Then they turned their rage on each other and started to brawl….this was during the point I was gathering up our things because there was just NO WAY I was going to let any of this continue.

I told the boys ‘let’s go’. Wyatt said “Where?”. I told him he was getting spanked! So as we exited, he was now shouting: “No mommy, don’t spank me!”. At that point, I couldn’t be any more embarrassed so I did nothing to calm him. We marched right out to the car, got home (where he screamed for another 30 minutes straight), and he went right to his room for a long nap! I was done.

To top it all off, this guy kept turning around and staring at us…THE WHOLE TIME. I wanted to say: WHAT THE HELL? Either HELP me or just turn around and pay attention! Mind your business!

It’s one thing if it’s JUST Wyatt acting out. (Which is typically how it goes down.) Usually I can manage him with a few threats. The problem I have is when they are both just Loud, Cranky and Nasty to each other and fighting over every thing in the bag just for the sake of a fight. It was beyond my powers to control them both at the same time. Chase has developed a healthy set of lungs I might add! UGH. I guess I’ll THINK about trying again next Sunday. That is a BIG MAYBE at this point though. The wounds are still too fresh.

Memory Lane

Many of you knew my stepsons, Tryson and Brody, from my marriage - or at least got to meet them at the wedding. It's crazy to think I met them when they were ages 2 and 4, the ages of my boys now. Wyatt and Chase went with their dad in August to California to visit them and their Grandma and Grandpa Peery. Here is a picture of all 4 brothers with their cousins (Kaetlyn and Trevor)... (BY THE WAY: I already scolded my boys father for letting my boys walk around looking like WHITE TRASH! I mean, what are they even WEARING?!)

Can you believe how LONG Tryson's hair is and how old Brody looks?! Sweet boys. We'll get to see them around Christmas I believe. Wyatt WORSHIPS his big brothers. He'll be very excited to see this picture posted! :)

Pee the milk?? - No, it's not as bad as it sounds.

Wyatt's preschool class went to "The Farm" today, and in case you didn't know.. my boys LOVE animals. Here is Wyatt with his buddy Logan checking out horses.

Wyatt braved the horse...Chase.. Not so brave. He was actually quite a WUSS from what I heard. Oh well, mommy's boy I suppose. :)

So why, may you ask, is this titled: Pee the Milk? Well, apparently, Logan was brave enough to MILK the goat. Wyatt refused because it was "de-scusting". Tonight though, he said he wanted to see Logan Pee the Milk. I guess that is what a 4 year old thinks when his friend makes an attempt to 'Milk a Goat'. :) Wyatt tasted the Goats milk too... he was not a fan. I asked him what it tasted like and he said it was yucky... and tasted like bananas. Go figure!

Insert something clever here.
