Chase and I were having a chat over dinner tonight. (Wyatt was at the church practicing for the Primary Program on Sunday.) I use the term dinner lightly, because let's face it..the kid was eating an orange and some mini cupcakes. Anyway.. Chase is a chatterbox. Loves to talk. So we were running through a typical Chase conversation. It went something like this:
Chase: You got a neck.
Me: Yes, I do have a neck!
Chase: I have a neck.
Me: Good job! You do have a neck!
Chase: Rusty has a neck. (our dog)
Me: He sure does.
Okay...so this went on for some time. The conversation ran quite the same as above, but instead of the word neck, insert: nose, hair, eye, chin, etc. (I believe you get the point.)
Well, we get to the part where Chase says, Puppy has a tail! I then asked him if HE had a tail too, and he got a HUGE GRIN on his face (I'm sure you are well aware of the joy little boys experience when they get to talk about bodily functions and less discussed body parts) and he said LOUDLY: I GOT A BOOOODDEEEE (booty)!!!
Yes, this is the word we use in our house.
For one, I LOATHE the word 'bum'. It's just not my thing, I think it sounds cheesy (no offense to those that do use it). It's just not for us! So, NATALIE - who I'm going to blame this one on - is the one that got me started with Booty I think. I'm pretty sure that is what she referred to her kids 'rear ends' as. At any rate... I don't want the kids using the word BUTT... I think it only leads to less endearing terms such as "butt head", etc. With boys, that is just the tip of the iceberg. I'm sure they can get VERY creative with the word butt (as they have with poop). So... Do I have another option? I mean, is booty that bad? I get a few looks when the kids say it...but I am curious as to what my other options might be. Please, enlighten me. Otherwise, we are living our lives referring to our 'bums' as BOOTIES! Thank you Aunt Natalie!

We say Booty too! That is not bad!
We say booty, as in...shake it!
We say Booty too, but we say it more like Boo-Tay. We also like to shake it. :)
TIff, it was so good to see your comment on my blog!! I haven't seen you forever. Visit the blog anytime, I added you to my blog family list.
Just keep working on the kids at church. Mine are way older and still act out in church! Its so frustrating.
You look as gorgeous as ever!!!!!!
Glad I could be of assistance!!! Unfortunately, regardless of how we train them when they're little - they change it up as they get older... Apparently, "booty" isn't an "in" word in junior high (or grade school, for that matter!). :-)
