Looks are deceiving!

So, many of you know I'm off to Florida for the week starting on Wednesday. (SOOOOO EXCITED) Natalie and I have made it our yearly tradition to meet up at Walt Disney World. We go all out, and let Disney handle EVERYTHING! It's quite fantastic. She brings her 2 kids (Hunter and Alexis). I, however, leave my two little devils at home and make a MOMMY vacation out of the whole thing. Now, based on this picture, I'm sure many of you might think that 'devils' is a bit harsh. Au contrere mon frere! (on the contrary my brother) Many of you have yet to experience the delight that is the Wyatt and Chase brotherly love... If you had though, you'd be running to Florida MORE than once a year for a week! :) I love my babies, but man, they are making me crazy! Now, I really don't want to go into too much detail.. in case Grandma and Grandpa Crisp and Aunt Tenille are reading this. They will be helping me/the boys dad out while I am on my SIESTA! If any of those 3 are reading this, my boys are SWEET angels as is our little dog Rusty. They shouldn't present any issues for you, and you definitely don't have to worry about encountering ANY of the following statements, as I'm sure the boys will be on their BEST behavior.

1. I HAD IT BIRST (first)! (This is followed by Chase throwing his body onto a hard surface to add extra effect to his fit, if it doesn't end up going his way. A little actor in the making...)
2. Dat(that's) MINE!
3. I don't wike (like) you!
4. Be nice to me! (This is only said when Wyatt is being punished with a timeout or harshly scolded for his irratic behavior.)
5. I don't want to!
6. Eye-att (Wyatt) hit me.
7. Chasey hit me.
8. Weave (leave) me awone (alone)!

Again, these are all phrases that you shouldn't expect to hear from my little angels. As far as rusty goes, no, he does NOT wake up at 5am and need to go out EVERY morning. No, he does NOT bark at whatever moves. No, he does NOT pee in the house. No, he does NOT jump on little people. (okay, so he does all of those things, but isn't he super cute??) Anyway... you won't hear from me for a week starting Wednesday! YAHOO!

What a racket!

So, as a few of you know, we had an incident. I still count my lucky stars and knock on wood that I have not had one broken bone between my two boys to date! However, we are not without injury. Chase was at his sitters house on Tuesday morning. I had JUST dropped him off when the chubby little guy tripped on a rug and landed face first into a coffee table. No external face damage, but he has totally mutilated his poor tongue. And I'm not an overly dramatic mom. If it was a little cut, I'd be frank about it. This thing however, is a huge gash. No, it's not even a gash. The kid now has a "flap" on his tongue about an inch long. And for those that REALLY know Chase, you know how devastating this is for him. The boy loves to EAT!

I didn't take him to the ER immediately. Marni (my favorite sitter in the world!) called her/our pediatrician/mother/brother/sister (my mom is out of town at Education Week!) who all confirmed that there is not one thing you can do for a kid that has slashed his tongue. Well, the guilt set in today as I was forcing his Motrin on him at 7am. His tongue was just huge and gross and I just couldn't go any longer thinking that I was damaging him for life by not spending 300 bucks on an ER visit. (I fear for the lisp!)

So, I left work..drove to pick him up, and got to the ER. We really only waited about 40 minutes before getting called...then more waiting...then rectal thermometers...Chase fighting to keep his mouth sealed shut...and then my favorite part: a whole lot of NOTHING. No antibiotic, no sutures, no cleansing, nadda. One wooden tongue depressor was about it. (And that is ALL I better be charged for! lol) So, in fairness, I KNEW there would be a whole lot of nothing....but I needed that peace of mind. So, I guess ultimately I got what I bargained for.

Now, I wait for the insane bill to come in the mail. Don't you love ER fees? I do carry insurance, but since I'm contracting, it's not the best insurance in the world by any stretch. I guess with all the extra cash I make contracting I should have invested in a better policy...but man, do I think insurance is a RACKET! So... we'll see what happens. For now, I have a sad little 2 year old with a torn up tongue that is desperate to be able to eat FRIES again! :) He can only stomach so many gogurts and puddings. This is a real "meat and potatoes" kid! :)

Dripping in Fashion...

Last Friday, I worked from my home office. This is not unusual on most Friday's, except this time, the kids were home with me. My sitter had a "tooth pulling gone wrong", and couldn't watch them. Our day actually went well, better than expected. So, I figured I'd reward the kids with a trip to the park and then to Dippin' Dots. They had pretty much been running around in their underwear all day (par for the course for them when we don't have to be anywhere). I instructed them both to go get ready so when I wrapped up my day around 5pm, we could head right out. This picture is a product of that instruction. I will credit my colleague Valerie with this posting. After I had described their selections in detail, she was dying to see the picture... For your viewing pleasure, and educational purposes.

So, in case you were curious about what the true park style is, here goes.

First, you must either
a. wear 2 different color socks (Chase)
b. wear 2 different sizes of socks (Wyatt)

Then, insert sweatshirt because it really is only 110 out...

You will also notice Chase sporting the belt around the waist, no belt loops. From what I hear, a lot of women these days are championing this look. I personally avoid it like the plague.

Chase also grabbed the critical 'scrunchie', because what short haired little boy can survive without? He also knew to carefully place it on his wrist for easy access. I must mention that his mommy does NOT do this, so where he learned it, I have no idea. He then selected some tight 'bike pants' and a muscle shirt. Very standard in most male dominated communities, right?

So that is Fashion 101 for you today. Next time you head to the park with your little boys, be sure to make a fashion statement. The Peery's certainly will. :)

A little boy and his flatulence...

Yes, all of you mothers of small boys can appreciate this one. You know how you try to teach your kid to say “Excuse Me” when he passes gas? Yeah. Tried that with Wyatt for quite some time now…and the only thing he seems to remember to say after he’s done it is… “IS THAT GAAAAAAS??” followed by a little “ha-ha” (think of Nelson Muntz on the Simpson’s…this is Wyatt’s inspiration) (and yes, I’m a HORRIBLE mother that has allowed him to watch The Simpson’s on more than one occasion and lived to regret it – but that is a whole other blog topic!) Anyway…. We were laying in my bed last night watching some show, when of course, Wyatt let’s one go. I tell him that he should say “excuse me” and he looks at me like.. What are you talking about mom?! He then proceeds to tell me - “Mom, that’s not Scuse, that’s gas!” I have no clue what he thinks a “scuse” is….but he certainly has yet to grasp the term “Excuse me”. Maybe we’ll work on ‘Pardon Me’ instead.

Daily Affirmations with Wyatt

Because I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and dog gone it, people like me!

Okay, so here's to hoping Wyatt does NOT grow up to be a donut maker for Krispy Kreme. ;) Couldn't resist the picture though. For those that don't know it, Wyatt really does love healthy food. The kid will eat carrots and celery like they are going out of style. Not many moms can say that about their 3 year old (can you believe he is 4 in like a month?!). Although, he pounds the fries and tots just as quickly. (Napoleon - GIVE ME SOME OF YOUR TOTS!!!!) Now, if we could only get him to venture outside of these few foods.....

The boys just got back in town from spending 4 days with their dad and and his family in California. It was a fantastic break for me, although I technically still had to work...and when you don't really have any hot dates lined up, your weekend is actually pretty lonely without your babies. At any rate, I did enjoy having a little bit of me time..uninterrupted. Even read one of the books my mom gave me a few years ago at Christmas. Good times.

Now, I'm just couting the days (21 from today) until I fly to Florida to join Nat and her kids at WDW for a week! Yahoo!

Don't go away mad, ..... just go away!

Ha! Okay, that is a bit harsh.... but for those of you that were eagerly anticipating my 'hot date' last night.... it was less than fantastic. Bachelor A is a VP of Media Relations for a large Insurance Carrier in the US. On paper, he is fantastic. His personality left a bit to be desired though. Most of you know that personality is a HUGE thing for me. Sometimes I can get over a guy not being a 10 on the HOT scale, but the personality must be at least a 12. I'd give Bachelor A maybe a 5 or 6 (possibly too generous). You know, he seemed like a great guy with a lot of potential, but what it comes down to is I am just not willing to settle for anyone that doesn't give me butterflies. So...there it is. We might get all the way to Bachelor Z before I ever find a guy worth keeping. :)

4:20pm: One final thought... as it seems a few of you might be confused about how this has played out. Perhaps this will clear it up. Today Martie Jo asked me if my plan was going to "phase" him out slowly. My reply was: Nope, he's phased. The MIRACLE of text messenging. Man what a B I am. LOL - And no, he does not know my Blog address! I'm not that big of a Jerk! hahaha OK, OK... I can be, but in this case, I wasn't.

Insert something clever here.
